The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) specifies that a hazardous condition may include one where the oxygen levels are below 19.5% or above 23.5%, require oxygen monitors. Industries that commonly use compressed, oxygen depleting gases, such as nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, and helium among others, include but not limited to laboratories, MRI, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, research and development, semiconductor, additive manufacturing, and cryogenic and biobanking facilities.
According to guidelines put out by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) an oxygen monitors shall be installed in any indoor location where compressed gases or cryogenic liquids are stored and/or dispensed in manner that could create the potential for the displacement of oxygen.
